Lindsey Renee Derry is a dancer, choreographer and teacher based in San Francisco. She is a graduate of Purchase College Conservatory of Dance-summa cum laude-and recipient of the 2006 Thayer Fellowship, a prestigious award given by the New York Foundation of the Arts to outstanding State University of New York graduates. As a dancer, Derry has worked with RIOULT (Pascal Rioult), Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, and TAKE Dance (Takehiro Ueyama) in New York City; José Navas/Compagnie Flak in Montreal, Canada; and Yannis Adoniou’s KUNST-STOFF Dance Company and Hope Mohr Dance in San Francisco. With these companies, Derry has had numerous touring opportunities, taking her to over a dozen countries spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. In 2012, Derry launched L i n s d a n s to serve as the platform for her solo performance work and choreography. She recently received a coveted Isadora Duncan Dance Award (Izzie) for her performance in POR·TRAI·TURE, her first solo show consisting of choreographies by José Navas, Sidra Bell, Iratxe Ansa, Alex Ketley, and herself. Since then, through the support of American Dance Abroad, festivals, and residencies she has performed her solo work in Greece, Germany, Bulgaria, Canada and the US. Most recently, through the support of the Derida Dance Center Residency Program and the Sofia Municipality, Derry was given the opportunity to work on and present Would_She, her latest solo show, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Locally she has received support from the Djerrasi Resident Artists Program, the Creative Capacity Fund, and the Zellerbach Family Foundation. Teaching is an integral part of Derry’s passion for dance and an important component of L i n s d a n s ‘ activities both locally and abroad.
